Highlighting Fellow Herdsman & Rancher, Ross Mosher

Meet Ross Mosher, a 5th generation cattle rancher from Augusta, Montana who embodies the heart & characteristics of MuskOx. Ross has been a part of our herd for a long time now and we were excited to get to know him a little better and share a bit of his story.
Ross was born & raised on the ranch that he now works and runs with a goal to keep it going for many more generations. Running about 1000 head, mostly red & black angus, the man is clearly busy, but he shared that it’s important for him to make time for the things he loves. Outside of his work on his cattle ranch, Ross is a professional photographer, fly fishing fanatic & fishing guide, huntsman, youth wrestling coach and rodeo king.
A local treasure, Ross shared a bit about his love for his small but mighty town.
Like us, Ross has found tons of inspiration in the wild, one of the main reasons he loves Montana so much.
“The best part would be that it’s not overly crowded (in areas) and the beautiful outdoors and all it has to offer. You can escape to get away from life, people, your cell phone and just be at peace...” I’ve even had “a mother bear and two of her bigger cubs right in my backyard… and come as close as 20-30ft. They didn’t show any aggression and just walked away like they didn’t even care.”
We asked Ross for some recommendations in Montana.
“Around Augusta there’s many lakes, camping and hiking areas. Some great local bars and restaurants. Statewide, oh man the possibilities are endless but Glacier National Park, Yellowstone park, the rivers, ski resorts, anything outdoor or indoor.
All the photos featured on this blog are from Ross’ Instagram, showing the extensive talent he has and the incredible encounters he’s had along the way.
“Photography has been a huge part of my life the last six years. I get to capture my life and the surroundings. It’s also opened many doors for great opportunities. As for what I take pictures of, pretty much anything and everything.” From insane blizzards to spectacular sunrises, he’s shared multiple moments that have taken his breath away.
All the above and more is why we love Ross, but why does he love us?
“I wanna say I came across (MuskOx) on my social media. I liked the look and color of them so I dived in more and read up on the company. And I really liked how they gave some much back for each purchase to wildlife conservation. I decided to purchase one and I was blown away by how soft and comfortable your flannels are...
...So I put it to use and was pleased how it kept me comfortable and dealt with the environment and my lifestyle. I'm a big fan of gear that looks good and performs well. I always liked the saying “look good, do good” so when I wear my flannel I feel good and I keep a positive attitude. I look forward to expanding my collection of these great flannels and spreading the word on how great they are.”
MuskOx is proud to have Ross as a part of our herd and we encourage you to put his words to the test. Get out in nature. Connect with your community. And gear up with a MuskOx Grand Flannel hat's built to last.
